Working Together
Supplier expectations at Yard B
At Yard B, we believe business can and should be a force for good. We are on the journey to becoming a certified B Corp, which means we measure success not just by profit, but by the positive impact we have on people, communities, and the planet.
As part of this, we are engaging with the suppliers who make up the majority of our spending (our “top 80%”). This isn’t about strict rules or box-ticking. It’s about sharing what matters to us, being transparent about where we want to head together, and inviting our suppliers to join us on that journey.
What we value in our supply chain
We know our suppliers vary in size, structure, and industry. Not everything here will be possible or relevant to all — but these are the areas that matter to us:
1. Ethical and Inclusive Business
Striving to reflect values and purpose in your work.
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, from ownership to hiring practices.
Paying fair or living wages (in the UK, this means the Real Living Wage benchmark).
2. Positive Employment Practices
Safe and supportive working conditions.
No child labour or forced labour.
Creating opportunities for people from underrepresented groups or facing barriers to work.
3. Environmental Responsibility
Taking steps to measure and reduce energy, water use, waste, and emissions.
Using renewable energy where possible.
Minimising hazardous materials and ensuring safe disposal.
Offering products or services that have recognised environmental or social certifications (e.g. Fair Trade, Organic, Rainforest Alliance).
4. Quality and Transparency
Maintaining high standards of quality assurance.
Openness about any external audits, certifications, or standards followed.
Being transparent about any material fines, sanctions, or controversies.
Why this matters
Shared values – We want to work with suppliers who care about more than just transactions.
Resilience – Strong ethical and sustainable practices make for stronger, more resilient supply chains.
Continuous improvement – This is not about perfection, but progress.
What we ask of you
Reflect on your current practices in light of these values.
Be honest about where you are today, we’d rather know the truth than see greenwashing.
Share with us any certifications, initiatives, or improvements you’re making.
Our Commitment
We’ll continue to:
Prioritise working with suppliers who align with these values.
Be transparent about our own practices.
Offer support, resources, and encouragement where we can.
Dedicate at least 5% of our time to pro bono and good cause projects, setting the tone for a purpose-driven supply chain.
A note of thanks
We hugely value the role our suppliers play in helping us deliver creative work with impact. Thank you for being part of our journey.
